Estimate of the sensitivity of fiber-optic transducers on the basis of the properties of the component fiber waveguides

V. G. Plotnichenko, V. K. Sysoev
Abstract: The example of phase fiber-optic pressure and temperature transducers is used to show that fiber waveguides designed for the middle infrared range can be used successfully in such devices. It is shown that transducers of this kind may exhibit sensitivities one or two orders of magnitude higher than those utilizing quartz glass fibers.
