Direct determination of the temperature distribution in the axial zone of a supersonic gas jet by the method of coherent active Raman spectroscopy

Abstract:
The active Raman scattering spectra were obtained for the Q band of N2 cooled in a supersonic jet. An analysis of the spectra yielded the dependence of the rotational temperature on the probe point in the zone of the jet. It was found that this dependence corresponded to the flow of a gas in a Mach "barrel."
