Abstract:
Piezoelectric tuning of the emission frequency was achieved in monolithic ring Nd3+: YAG laser with a nonplanar cavity. The maximum tuning range was 2.3 GHz when the ray-contour perimeter was 30 mm. Under conditions of resonant modulation of mechanical stresses the rate of tuning could reach 35 MHz/V. Qualitative estimates were obtained of the contributions made to the change in the Nd3+ : YAG emission frequency by the deformation of the ray contour and by the photoelasticity effect when the Nd3+: YAG crystal was mechanically stressed.
