Numerical simulation of the scattering of a converging optical beam by a surface with one-dimensional roughness

P. N. Lebedev Physical Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow
Abstract: A numerical simulation is reported of the scattering of a converging optical beam by a rough surface. The distribution of the intensity of the scattered radiation in the focal plane is found. It is shown that the surface roughness can be determined by measuring the intensity in a spot of specular reflection of radiation by the surface.
