Thermochemical model for the calculation of the maximum permissible exposure of the retina in the near infrared range

Abstract:
It is shown that the energies of pulsed laser radiation causing irreversible changes in the eye fundus tissues can be calculated from the assumption that the denaturation of the retina proteins is a thermochemical process. The dependence of the laser radiation energy on the size of the illuminated region is interpreted.
