Abstract:
A method utilizing the Jones vectors and matrices was used to calculate the intensities of the stimulated emission of orthogonal elliptically polarized modes in a linear gas laser with an anisotropic resonator. The effects of the frequency splitting, the degree of ellipticity, and the spatial overlap of the field on the wave competition were studied. The results of calculations of the stimulated emission intensities were plotted as a function of the offset relative to the center of the gain profile. It was established that the lasing regime depended appreciably on the frequency difference and the degree of ellipticity of the modes. Lasing regimes with equal mode intensities were determined. The results may be utilized to develop two-frequency frequency-stabilized lasers.
