Absorption induced in KrF laser windows by ionizing radiation

Abstract:
Measurements were made of the absorption γ induced by ionizing radiation in the windows of a KrF electron-beam laser. The coupling coefficient between γ and the ionizing radiation dose was determined for KU-1 quartz and for MgF2. The influence of this effect on the performance of the optics mounted on the laser chamber of a KrF electron-beam laser was studied.
