Continuous-wave laser with a vortex-stabilized lamp

M. B. Zhitkova, V. N. Klushin, A. I. Portnyagin, A. A. Shokin
Abstract: Design calculations are given for the thermal conditions in a YAG:Nd active element under continuous-wave (cw) conditions. It is shown that an allowance is necessary for the temperature dependences of the properties of the crystal at high pumping levels. Krypton arc lamps and vortex-stabilized discharges are compared from the point of view of the pumping efficiency. The results are given of an investigation of the dependence of the characteristics of the output radiation on the pumping power.
