Measurement of the polarization of the radiation reflected backward from a laser-heated plasma

Abstract: An investigation was made of the strong backward reflection of laser radiation from a plasma generated from a solid target by laser heating. Polaroid films were used in measurements of the polarization of the reflected radiation at λ = 0.53 μ. The degree of polarization was found to be 90–95%.
