Heating of a plasma in stimulated scattering of laser radiation (review)

A. V. Vinogradov, V. V. Pustovalov
Abstract: Formulas for the diffusion coefficients are derived and analyzed for arbitrary velocities of light-scattering electrons in a nonrelativistic plasma. The rates of heating of the plasma electrons and ions are obtained and discussed in detail. Some of the results obtained are compared with published work. The proposed theory is relevant to the laser heating of dense plasmas to thermonuclear temperatures.
