Nonlinear optical phenomena
Phase conjugator with thin nonlinear layers
B. Ya. Zel'dovich, V. I. Safonov Chelyabinsk State Technical University
Abstract:
A double conjugator is proposed: it consists of two thin nonlinear layers with a third-order optical nonlinearity. Phase conjugation is based on the principle of conversion of phase modulation into amplitude modulation. Calculations of the threshold conditions are reported and several ways of reducing the threshold are suggested. The feasibility of using liquid crystals as thin nonlinear layers is discussed.
