Propagation, in a nonlinear medium, of high-power wave beams with small-scale spatial amplitude and phase modulation

Abstract:
An analysis is made of the propagation, in a nonlinear medium, of wave beams with small-scale amplitude and phase modulation without assuming a low beam intensity. It is found that at high intensities there is a type of angular divergence that ensures accurate compensation for self-focusing. In this case, unlike lowintensity beams, the required angular divergence is characterized by the maximum intensity not in the direction of the beam axis but at a certain angle with respect to the axis.
