"Quasimode" correction of an image passed through a randomly inhomogeneous medium

A comparison is made between the field characteristics in cases of correction of the first two modes and quasimode correction based on an analysis ofthe moments of the intensity distribution in the image plane. It is shown that by selecting the size of the tracking aperture, the same level of residual distortions as for mode correction can be achieved with quasimode correction.
