Abstract:
An analysis is made of the initial stage of laser heating of bulk metal specimens in air. The activation time for the oxidation reaction is determined. It is found that laser heating of bulk specimens in air is accompanied by peaking of the spatial distribution of the temperature (heat localization regime).
