Dependence of the x-ray yield from a laser plasma on the target material

Abstract: A steady-state model is used to calculate and investigate the dependence of the energy emitted by a laser plasma in the 0.7–20 keV range on the atomic number of the target material. Satisfactory agreement is obtained with the experimental data, and the profile and position of the K and L peaks are correctly described.
