Method for altering the Q factor of a laser by a glass plate

N. N. Il'ichev, A. A. Malyutin
Abstract: An analysis is made of a method for altering the Q factor of a laser resonator containing Brewster plates. The method is based on introduction of an additional plate, again oriented at the Brewster angle, and its rotation about the longitudinal axis of the resonator. It is shown that the plane of polarization of the output radiation exhibits a "pulling" effect which gives rise to a different dependence of the losses on the angle of rotation of the new plate than that predicted by earlier calculations.
