Discrete reception of optical signals in the atmosphere
S. S. Gasparyan, R. A. Kazaryan
Abstract:
The probabilities of errors in one- and three-beam systems for the reception of optical signals by direct detection and optical mixing were determined over a 200-m strongly turbulent horizontal path. Discrete reception was found to have advantages when the receiver inputs were statistically independent. The advantages of the discrete reception increased with decreasing probability of error in a single branch of a discrete system.
