Abstract: The theoretical feasibility of the formation of smooth output radiation pulses in an electron-beam-controlled CO2 laser operating at atmospheric pressure was confirmed experimentally by profiling pump pulses. Smooth output pulses were also generated by rapid pumping when the pressure in the mixture was reduced to 0.5 bar.
