Problems in steady-state theory of a multimode laser with a selective saturable absorber

A. G. Kagan, Ya. I. Khanin
Abstract: An analysis is made of several models of lasers with a selective saturable absorber. The emission spectrum is calculated on the assumption of spectral homogeneity of the active medium and absorber. It is shown that in the limiting case of a very narrow absorption line the lasing may be bistable.
