Current sensor utilizing a fiber-optic waveguide

S. M. Kozel, V. I. Kreopalov, V. N. Listvin, N. A. Glavatskikh
Abstract: A study was made of the influence of homogeneous and circular magnetic fields on a single-mode optical fiber exhibiting linear birefringence and wound into a coil with a circumference equal to the beat length. It was found that the sensitivity of a current sensor based on such a fiber can be as high as that of sensors utilizing an isotropic fiber.
