Abstract: Lasing in a chromium-activated forsterite crystal was achieved by pumping in the region of a nontraditional absorption band. The efficiency of conversion of the pumped radiation was 25%. The use of a selective resonator made it possible to tune the emission wavelength in the range 1170—1350 nm.
