Population inversion of the levels of the hydrogen-like F IX ion in a recombining laser plasma compressed in a strong magnetic field

Abstract:
The expansion of a laser plasma in a strong (~ 20Т) magnetic field was investigated experimentally. Images and spectra of the plasma jet were recorded in the soft x-ray range. The transverse plasma expansion was restricted by a magnetic field. An inversion of the populations of the levels of hydrogen-like F IX ions was observed.
