Electron-beam-pumped He–Xe, He–Kr, and He–Ar lasers

Abstract:
An investigation was made of the energy and spectral characteristics, and also of the time dependence of the small-signal gain and the lasing kinetics of individual spectral components of lasers utilizing of He–Xe, He–Kr, and He–Ar mixtures pumped by a beam of fast electrons. Specific output energies of 0.19, 0.2, and 0.17 J/liter were achieved respectively for these mixtures. The maximum efficiencies were 1.6, 1.8, and 1.4%, respectively.
