Abstract: Modeling is reported of hydrodynamic ejection of the melt from the zone of interaction of laser pulses with the metal under the influence of the recoil vapor pressure. The shape of the free surface of the melt and the field of the velocities in the liquid phase are determined. A criterion is proposed for the melt splashing in the interaction zone as a function of the absorbed power density of the laser radiation.
