Photoionization method of laser monokinetization of ionic beams

Full-text PDF (524 kB) Citations (2)
Abstract: A method is proposed for compensating the initial scatter of the ion velocities by controlled variation of the duration of acceleration of these ions in a static electric field. The velocity discrimination is performed by frequency scanning with a laser and it is due to the Doppler selection of the parent atoms. Estimates of the monokinetization efficiency are obtained.
