Abstract: Anisotropy of the thermal interaction in an electron-beam-controlled CO2 laser was observed and substantiated theoretically. The results of calculations for a Gaussian beam were in a good qualitative agreement with the experiments in which a self-filtering unstable resonator was used to obtain a near-Gaussian beam.
