Abstract: The conditions for energy deposition in a pulse-periodic XeCl laser with a 9 cm × 6 cm aperture were investigated and analysed. A new power supply system in the form of two series-connected LC inverter circuits, combined with a magnetic pulse-compression stage, ensured the formation of a homogeneous gas discharge at charging voltages not exceeding 30 kV. An output energy of 10 J per pulse was obtained at a pulse repetition rate of 100 Hz.
