New method of pulse train compression

A. N. Starodumov
Full-text PDF (748 kB) Citations (1)
Abstract: A new method for producing light pulses with an ultrahigh repetition frequency is proposed. The method is based on counterpropagating four-wave mixing in an optical fiber. The information is coded at low repetition frequencies, and the pulse train is compressed in time. The effect would be to raise the repetition frequency to 1011–1012 Hz.
