Experimental investigation of the efficiency of phase conjugation of an XeCl laser beam by stimulated Brillouin scattering
Yu. I. Bychkov, V. F. Losev, Yu. N. Panchenko
Abstract:
An experimental investigation was made of the phase conjugation of an XeCl laser beam with spectral line widths of 2 and 0.4 pm as a function of the conditions of focusing of the beam in a heptane cell. A phase conjugation efficiency higher than 90% was achieved. It was found that, apart from the stimulated Brillouin scattering (STBS) component, the scattered beam also contained a second component without a frequency shift. Their ratio depended on the geometry used to couple the pump beam into the nonlinear medium and its intensity. Phase conjugation was achieved as a result of STBS.
