Method for improving the homogeneity of the spatial distribution of laser radiation

S. V. Gaponov, N. N. Salashchenko, Ya. I. Khanin
Abstract: The results are given of a theoretical and experimental investigation of a linear corrector for transforming the distribution of intensity across a laser beam into a random distribution with a nearly rectangular envelope. Instabilities of spatial and spectral characteristics, exhibited by many types of laser, result in averaging of spatial fluctuations after passing through the corrector and help in establishing a uniform energy distribution.
