Apodization of laser radiation by phase apertures

N. I. Potapova, A. D. Tsvetkov
Abstract: Numerical modeling and experimental investigations revealed the relationships governing the process of apodization of laser beams by apertures with an optical inhomogeneity gradient. The optimal parameters of the apertures ensuring maximum apodization were identified. It was found that the best apodizing properties with a high value of the filling factor were obtained for amplitude-phase aperture with a narrow variable transmission zone.
