Abstract:
Stimulated emission was obtained from a new type of organic crystal, paraterphenyl activated with diphenylbutadiene, pumped by a high-power nanosecond electron beam. The radiation characteristics of the crystal were investigated and compared at various rates of electron-beam and laser excitation. The threshold pump power density in the second case was approximately an order of magnitude lower. The optical stability of the crystal was analyzed.
