Selection of the method for calculating the thermal conditions in the optical elements of lasers

Abstract: An analysis is made of the capabilities of the most widely used methods for calculating the temperature fields in the optical elements of pulsed and cw lasers. The precision and the limits of the validity of each method are considered. Recommendations are made on the most rational use of these methods.
