Matrix method for the calculation of the polarization eigenstates of anisotropic optical resonators
V. Ya. Molchanov, G. V. Skrotskii
Abstract:
A review is given for the applications of the Jones matrix method in calculations of the eigenvalues of the polarizations, frequencies, and losses of modes in anisotropic optical resonators. Matrices representing anisotropic elements are considered. It is shown that in many cases the most general properties of the eigenpolarizations can be determined without the calculation of the matrix of the resonator in question. The approach is illustrated by calculations of the eigenvalues of the polarizations, frequencies, and losses of modes in linear and ring anisotropic resonators which are of practical importance.
