Abstract:
Induced second-harmonic generation has been observed in a number of colored glasses with high lead content, at efficiencies that are an order of magnitude higher on the average than in germanium silicate preforms for optical fibers. This highest coefficient of second harmonic generation is observed in lead silicate glasses doped with cerium.
