Raman laser with intracavity stimulated Raman scattering and amplification by centers in lithium fluoride

Abstract:
A study has been made of the first Stokes component of intracavity Raman scattering in a Ba(NO$_3$)$_2$ crystal with amplification of the light by $F_2^-$ centers in LiF. The purpose of the study was to improve the energy characteristics of a Raman laser. In this arrangement the LiF ($F_2^-$) crystal doubles as Q switch and amplifier.
