Abstract:
A field mechanism involving a deviation from a Boltzmann distribution of particles with respect to rotational sublevels at high radiation intensities is shown to be one of the primary mechanisms for simultaneous oscillation on several lines. The competition among transitions may weaken at a certain field intensity level in the cavity. The conditions for achieving stable multiline operation of TEA CO2 lasers with a nonselective cavity have been determined.
