Abstract: Some new ideas for achieving stimulated emission in laser crystals activated with Ln3+ (Ln stands for Lanthanides) ions are proposed. They are based on a pumping involving second-harmonic generation and stimulated Raman scattering. These ideas have been implemented experimentally.
