Waveguide transmission of visible coherent-light images

Abstract:
The geometrical-optics approximation is used to calculate the field distribution in planar and rectangular multimode waveguides in the case of paraxial excitation with coherent light. An experimental check is reported of the possibility of transmitting a complex optical image along a rectangular waveguide. An estimate is obtained of the energy dissipation resulting from multiple reflections in a waveguide.
