Measuring the absorption losses at the mirrors of a laser with intracavity frequency doubling

V. M. Garmash, O. E. Sidoryuk, A. V. Tarasov

Polyus Research and Development Institute, Moscow
Abstract: The absorption by the mirrors of a laser operating under conditions of intracavity frequency doubling has been studied by photothermal radiometry. The absorption coefficient of the mirror for the fundamental wavelength increases when the second harmonic is incident on the mirror. The photoinduced absorption depends on the type of coating and on the intensity of the second harmonic.
