Abstract:
A simple scheme for effectively shortening the pulses from standard discharge excimer lasers is proposed. The method makes use of near-surface breakdown in a liquid. This scheme can be used over a broad spectral range. It can produce pulses ≈40 ps long through the use of a single discharge module.
