Influence of the Dember effect on second harmonic generation upon reflection of Ti:sapphire laser radiation from silicon

Abstract:
Electronic processes stimulated in a silicon volume by a megahertz train of femtosecond pulses from a Ti:sapphire laser are studied theoretically. The spatial distribution of a photoinduced potential in the silicon volume is calculated. It is shown that this potential can considerably change a voltage applied to the near-surface region of a space charge, thereby affecting the generation of the reflected second harmonic.
