Abstract:
A theoretical investigation is reported of the influence of changes in the refractive indices, which accompany changes in the parameters of the loss modulator and of the active medium, on the amplitude–detuning characteristic of a loss-modulated CO2 laser. The results show that if the frequency sweep is taken into account, the amplitude of the laser response decreases and doubling spikes disappear if the detuning is positive, and the response amplitude increases if the detuning is negative.
