Abstract:
The two-photon absorption cross section of the efficient red laser dye 6-(Cyclohexylamino)-3-triflurometyl-1H-phenalen-1-one (phenalemine 512) in ethanol and polymethyl methacrylate excited by nanosecond pulses from a 1064-nm Nd:YAG laser is measured by the method of two-quantum standard. Lasing in phenalemine 512 is obtained upon two-photon excitation of the dye in solutions, a polymer matrix, and drops.
