Control of the angular structure of high-order harmonics

Abstract: The angular distributions of high-order harmonics generated in gas (neon) targets are calculated numerically as functions of the target thickness and position with respect to the focus of a laser beam. The analytic expression is obtained which describes the angular distribution of harmonics generated in a thin gas layer. The conditions are found under which a harmonic beam contains a component with the divergence close to the diffraction-limited value.
