Pulsed mid-IR Cr2+:ZnS and Cr2+:ZnSe lasers pumped by Raman-shifted Q-switched neodymium lasers

Abstract:
The spectral and lasing properties of Cr2+:ZnS and Cr2+: ZnSe crystals pumped by Raman-shifted nanosecond neodymium lasers are studied. Tunable pulsed lasing is obtained in the mid-IR range between 2.05 and 2.40 μm. The minimum lasing threshold was 170 μJ at the maximum slope efficiency of 20 %.
