Influence of the photogalvanic effect on the formation of gratings by the phase-locked detection mechanism

Abstract:
A theoretical analysis is made of the mechanism of phase-locked detection in crystals exhibiting a strong photogalvanic effect, such as LiNbO3: Fe. This effect has practically no influence on the formation of gratings in accordance with this mechanism. The phase-locked detection involving perpendicularly polarised 'write' waves is discussed.
