Abstract: Nonlinear optical characteristics of an aqueous colloidal solution of As2S3 are studied by the Z-scan technique at the wavelength 1064 of a 25-ns Nd:YAG laser. The measured values of the nonlinear refractive index and the third-order nonlinear susceptibility are found to be – 2.8 × 10-11 and – 4.7 × 10-12 CGSE units, respectively. The nonlinear absorption coefficient of the chalcogenide solution is found to be 1 cm GW-1.
