Abstract:
The process of removal of a liquid paraffin film from a water surface irradiated by 40 – 270-μs pulses from a CO2 laser is studied experimentally and theoretically. It is found for the first time that the mass of removed paraffin can exceed that of paraffin located in the region irradiated by the laser pulse. A theoretical model is proposed which explains the results obtained.
