Abstract: We report a theoretical study on the operation of a transversely diode pumped laser based on metastable atoms of inert gases. For the case of a not too small reflection coefficient of the output mirror, an analytical solution is obtained, which makes it possible to exhaustively determine any energy characteristics of the laser and find the optimal parameters of the working medium and pump radiation necessary for the most efficient operation of the laser.
Keywords: diode-pumped laser, inert gases, metastable atoms, collisions.
